“Affirming the role of ethics in Politics, Economy and Science”. This is the exhortation contained in the message that the President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano sent to the Nobel Peace Laureates gathered in the Campidoglio on the occasion of the 8th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates. The Head of State claims that - “Nowadays it is necessary that international relations are based on a steady ethical foundation which reaffirms the centrality of the human being along with its dignity and its indefeasible needs”.
To President Napolitano the Rome Nobel Peace Laureates Summit - “is a precious occasion to reflect upon those themes which are central for the life of nations, for the pursuit of peace, for the development and progress of all peoples and of the future generations.” Napolitano stresses that - “The commitment to international peace and security, to assertion and respect of freedoms, to overcome the gap between North and South, to safeguard the Environment and the resources of the planet need a shared urgent effort from all countries as much as the strengthening of the multilateral system founded on the United Nations and a Europe capable of operating in a harmonious way on the international scene”.
