Dr Rebecca Johnson
Executive Director & Founder of the Acronym Institute for Disarmament Diplomacy.

With more than 30 years experience campaigning on international security and nuclear disarmament, Dr Johnson is a Vice Chair of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), Vice President of the UK Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), and an advisor for other NGOs, from Russia to Japan.  A prolific author, with a doctorate from the University of London School of Economics (LSE), her books and analyses on all aspects of disarmament, security and civil society have been published by the United Nations, European Union and academic and policy institutions around the world. Following five years at the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp until the 1987 INF Treaty was agreed, she also founded the Aldermaston Women’s Peace Camp(aign), coordinated Greenpeace’s international Nuclear Test Ban campaign (to 1992), has also led and participated in women’s campaigns and other civil society activism against militarism and war, including Women in Black and Faslane 365.
