In the history of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates the Peace Summit Award for Social Activism has been assigned twice: in 2010 and 2005 to associations which have distinguished themselves for their outstanding contribution to international peace and social justice. In 2010 Nihonhidankyo the “Japan Confederation of Atomic and Hydrogen Bomb Sufferers Organization” was awarded with this special prize.
The first organization in the history of the Summit which won the Prize was “Peace Jam” in 2005. The Nobel Peace Laureates honoured its founder Dawn Eagle with this Special Peace Summit Award on the occasion of the VI World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates.
