Nobel for Peace Hall at L'Aquila

The event was attended by Mr. George Clooney, who has presented an unfinished work in progress version of Wes Andersonís FANTASTIC MR FOX to honor the earthquake victims of L’Aquila on Thursday 9th July at San Demetrio Camp. Fantastic Mr. Fox is a stop-motion animated film directed by Mr. Anderson and based on the classic book by Roald Dahl. Featuring the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman, it is a story about wild animals, underground tunnels, explosions, flames, burning things, a brilliantly clever fox, and three of the meanest, nastiest, ugliest farmers you’ll ever know.

Volunteers to support the population of Abruzzo

The Permanent Secretariat of Nobel Peace Laureates Summits,
chaired by Nobel Peace Laureate Mikhail Gorbachev,
in cooperation with Eli Lilly, has sent a team of volunteers
to support the population of Abruzzo affected by the
earthquake.
Today, two tents for the field hospitals
and 100 camp beds have been consigned by our International
organization to the Camp of San Gregorio at Aquila.

The Permanent Secretariat of Nobel Peace Laureates Summits derives from a new and more broadly based collaboration between the International Gorbachev Foundation and the City of Rome for realizing the World Summits of Nobel Peace Laureates. The Permanent Secretariat, based in Rome, is a non-profit association without political aims.
As well as organizing the tasks of the Summit, the Secretariat monitors the activities of Nobel Peace Laureates, while promoting the adoption of the "Charter for a world without violence" and supporting the work of the Nobel, who participate in the annual Summits at Rome, as mediators in various conflicts around the world (Article 3 of the Statute).
